David Gill shares the transfer he thinks Daniel Levy really messed up for Tottenham
Former Manchester United chief executive David Gill has now been discussing Daniel Levy’s demeanour and deals at Tottenham Hotspur.
Levy has of course just completed a very productive window at Spurs, working in tandem with Ange Postecoglou to strengthen their fresh, exciting project.

And it’s long been the case that Levy has had a reputation for being a shrewd negotiator, he won’t let Tottenham be held to ransom in the transfer market.
The Chairman, who is actually the longest-serving in the Premier League after taking the post in 2001, has been intrinsic to the progress Spurs have made of late.
And perhaps the best example of his success was the fee the club managed to get for Harry Kane with just a year left on his deal.
Of course, David Gill knows a thing or two about success during his time working alongside Sir Alex Ferguson at Man United.
And when speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s yesterday, Gill took a moment to discuss Levy’s tenure at Tottenham.
Gill was initially complimentary of the Spurs man, but did share one story of inefficiency which he thought could have been dealt with better.
David Gill shares one transfer Daniel Levy didn’t quite get right at Tottenham
Speaking on the podcast, Gill recalled the summer in which United signed Dimitar Berbatov from Levy’s Tottenham.
Gill explained that Levy left matters unnecessarily late, meaning they had to settle for a last minute deal to sign Frazier Campbell.

He explained: “I think he protects his club. I respect him. I think he is good. What he has done with that stadium is fantastic.
“He can do himself no favours though. An example is when we signed Dimitar Berbatov, we had him all summer and ended up getting him right at the death.
“But he never had a replacement. Fraizer Campbell was due to go on loan to Bolton and Sir Alex had to call him and tell him he was going to Tottenham.
“Daniel probably got another million or two out of us, but he could have got that deal done earlier and had a replacement.”
Of course, it does seem as if Levy has learned a thing or two at Tottenham since then, he’d seem unlikely to succumb to such a deal these days if Gill were still at United.
But credit where it’s due, Levy has now steered Spurs to an arguably stronger position than their Manchester counterparts in this modern era.
And the club are now building a brilliant squad, including a youngster who had interest from all the top clubs in Europe.
