David Beckham and John Terry send Instagram messages to Tottenham star Harry Kane, as England win
Harry Kane scored his fourth goal of Euro 2020 on Wednesday night as England progressed into the final – with an extra-time win over Denmark. Following criticism earlier in the tournament, Tottenham star Kane now has four in three – earning praise from John Terry and David Beckham.
Kane, 27, has been sensational all season but after failing to find the back of the net in the group stages, he had been criticised. But after a goal against Germany, a brace versus Ukraine and then the winner against Denmark, he has turned critics into plaudits. He was MOTM for a second match in a row.
The Tottenham striker remains in with a shout of winning the golden boot, with the leaders sitting on five goals. Following the win, and progression into the first final in 55 years, Kane posted on Instagram. Clearly, the Tottenham star was delighted – grinning from ear to ear in his interviews.
Euro 2020: Terry and Beckham send messages to Tottenham and England star Kane
Kane deserves enormous praise. Many have spoken about his ability to not get too high during a win, but remain positive during a loss. Clearly, that ethos has worked after a tricky start in which some have suggested has has looked sluggish. But he is now leading England into a final.
The first final since 1966. He becomes the only other man to captain in a final, other than Bobby Moore, and the only captain to take England into a European Championship final. He has now also equalled Gary Lineker’s record of 10 goals at major tournaments. Beckham and Terry sent him messages on Instagram.
