Darren Bent wowed by West Ham transfer rumour alongside Kalvin Phillips deal
West Ham United are making good progress on the transfer front in the January window.
The Hammers have reportedly struck an agreement over signing Kalvin Phillips on loan from Manchester City this month.
West Ham have also been linked with Arsenal attacker Emile Smith Rowe, who is currently struggling for game time at the Emirates.
The reported some days ago that the Gunners have turned down several offers – including one from the Hammers – to sign him on loan.
Darren Bent, speaking on , believes West Ham would be getting two “unbelievable” players on board in Phillips and Smith Rowe.

The pundit reckons Hammers fans would be buzzing at the thought of what their already-strong squad would achieve with those two additions.
Speaking on talkSPORT Drive, Bent said: “Kalvin Phillips and Emile Smith Rowe, they would be two unbelievable signings for West Ham.
“All of a sudden, if you’re a West Ham fan, you’re excited now because of the players you have, then you bring in them two as well, you’re almost like: ‘Oh my goodness, what can we do with this squad?’”
Asked by Andy Goldstein where West Ham could finish with Phillips in their side, Bent replied: “Definitely top six. Minimum top six.
“I think they should be aiming for top six anyway because I think they’re a good side. But if you add them two in, top six then becomes the minimum.”
West Ham making moves late on in January transfer window
West Ham have built an outstanding team in recent years and, even though they lost Declan Rice to Arsenal in the summer, it hasn’t hindered them.
Now, the Hammers are reportedly set to bring in one of England’s best midfielders in Kalvin Phillips, who is proven at the very highest level.
Admittedly, Smith Rowe would be a much harder signing to get over the line. Arsenal don’t seem to want him to go, so West Ham may need a contingency plan.
The Hammers are reportedly in talks over FC Nordsjaelland winger Ibrahim Osman at present, so let’s see what happens on that front in the coming days.
West Ham left it late in the summer transfer window but went on to make some great signings. Let’s hope this is the case by the time the January window shuts in just over a week’s time as well.
