Darren Bent says £17m midfielder would be such a pointless signing for Arsenal

The January transfer window is just around the corner, and Arsenal are being linked with a number of potential new additions.

The Gunners are looking at signing a number of new players.

Indeed, Arsenal are looking for a new striker. Victor Osimhen has recently been linked to Mikel Arteta’s side, while the Gunners have also been linked to Arda Guler.

Speaking on Insider Gooners, Darren Bent has been discussing the idea of Guler coming to Arsenal, and he’s really not sold on this potential move.

Indeed, Bent says that Guler would only be a bench player at Arsenal, and he wouldn’t fit how this squad is being built.

Arda Guler wouldn’t fit at Arsenal

Bent shared his verdict on the man potentially coming to Arsenal.

The pundit says that Guler isn’t as good as the options Arsenal have right now, and this move wouldn’t make much sense.

“Not for me. You want a grade out of five? I’ll say one. He won’t fit the squad. I think he’s a very good player, I saw him at the Euros, very talented, but will you swap one bench for another?Bent said.

“At Real Madrid he’s not getting the opportunities. Coming to Arsenal there are better options, be it out wide or in the number 10 role. I can’t see that one happening. Good player, but, not for Arsenal, no./p>

Who could Arda Guler sign for?

Bent says that Guler to Arsenal isn’t a move that makes sense, and he’s not wrong.

Indeed, Guler is getting fed up at Real Madrid due to a lack of minutes.

However, he’s unlikely to start over Martin Odegaard for Arsenal, nor is he likely to start down the right ahead of Bukayo Saka.

Luckily for Guler, there are other options open to him.

Tottenham are keen on Guler, while Newcastle and Aston Villa have also been linked.

A move to Newcastle could make the world of sense for the teenager.

The Magpies desperately need a new right-sided player, while he could also work well in a more advanced midfield position for Eddie Howe’s side if they decided to use Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali as two deeper midfield players.

Guler to Arsenal doesn’t make much sense, but don’t be shocked if the Euro 2024 star does end up in the Premier League.
