Darren Bent predicts whether Mohamed Salah will stay or leave Liverpool

Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool future has emerged as a big talking point in recent months but the Egyptian has continued in his merry ways at the start of the new season.

The Reds have raced off the blocks with three successive wins and clean sheets under Arne Slot and Salah has been the star of the show with three goals and assists apiece.

In Liverpool’s latest encounter, he was at his brilliant best as he scored once again at Old Trafford to spearhead his side to a 3-0 win against Manchester United.

Speaking immediately after the game, Salah said Liverpool are yet to offer him a new deal, indicating that this could well be his last season at Anfield.

And now, Darren Bent believes the 32-year-old will indeed be on his way out of the club at the end of the current campaign.

Darren Bent feels Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool in 2025

Bent feels Liverpool are precariously placed in this situation but admits they won’t entertain any offers for Salah during the January transfer window as they could be involved in a Premier League title race.

“Do you let him go for nothing or do you try and convince him now?” Bent said on talkSPORT. “I would probably say that he would go for nothing at the end of the season.

“And the reason I say that, imagine it gets to January time, right, and they get a big bid from Saudi Arabia, wherever, who wants to sign him, right. Big bid. £100 million.

“But they are within touching distance of the Premier League title, he is not going anywhere. So you are going to have to.”

However, the former Tottenham Hotspur striker added that Salah will leave the club if the Reds don’t tie him down to the new contract before the turn of the year.

He continued: “If you can’t convince him to sign a new contract and it gets to January, you are going to have to, depending on where Liverpool are.”

What Salah feels about contract situation

Salah is happy under Slot and wants to remain at Liverpool, but with the Reds yet to begin contract negotiations with their star man, there’s always a chance they could reluctantly part ways at the end of the current season.

He’s still one of the fittest players in the Premier League and has shown no signs of slowing down despite entering his 30s, indicating that he still has a few years ahead of him at the highest level.

Salah has keen admirers in Saudi Arabia, but with the Egyptian still ripping it up in Europe, the lure of moving to the Middle East would probably not appeal to him.

Ball firmly on Liverpool’s court

Salah’s pointed remarks after the Manchester United game very much signal his desire to remain at Liverpool.

However, the Reds have been unwilling to offer long-term deals to players in their 30s under Michael Edwards, making this one a tricky situation for the Liverpool hierarchy.

That said, a player of Salah’s caliber is hard to find in the market today and his achievements at the club speak for itself.

As Slot aims to build on Jurgen Klopp’s legacy at the club, it is imperative for them to retain Salah and this is a decision they absolutely can’t get wrong.
