Darren Bent plays down Newcastle’s chances of Reece James loan
Darren Bent that he cannot see Newcastle United having much of a chance of signing Chelsea youngster Reece James on loan in January.
that the Magpies were interested in signing James until the end of the season. Steve Bruce is yet to settle on a right-back this term, and the report suggested that he was a big fan of the Blues youngster.

But after watching James feature for Frank Lamaprd’s men in the weekend win over Burnley, former Premier League striker Bent suggested that he would be surprised to see the defender on the move when the winter window opens.
“Not long at all [until he secures a starting position],” . “I heard yesterday that Newcastle were in for him, trying to get him in January on loan.

“But I cannot see Frank Lampard letting any of them go because why would you upset the feel-good factor there? Because he is going to be in there sooner rather than later.”
It does appear that Newcastle face an uphill battle trying to land the 19-year-old. The Sun suggested that Chelsea intend to keep the former Wigan loanee, but the Magpies still plan to ask about his availability.
It may be an ambitious move, but it cannot hurt for Newcastle to make a bid. He has the potential to be an outstanding signing for Bruce’s side.
And Chelsea may have a slight change of heart by the time January arrives. The Blues do not have a large group of right-backs. But it may not do the youngster many favours to only hand him the occasional substitute appearance.
