Darren Bent names the Manchester City player he would sign for Arsenal in January

Darren Bent has said that he would sign Kalvin Phillips for Arsenal.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker and talkSPORT pundit has also given his verdict on Phillips potentially leaving Manchester City for Newcastle United.

So, what has Darren Bent said about Arsenal and Kalvin Phillips? Let’s take a look.

Darren Bent would take Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips at Arsenal

Well, Kalvin Phillips has been linked with moves from Manchester City in the January transfer window.

has reported that Italian giants Juventus are in talks with City, who won the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup last season, over a loan deal for Phillips.

TuttoJuve has reported that Newcastle United are “the favourites” to secure the services of the former Leeds United star in January.

Arsenal have also been linked. According to in November, the Gunners want to bring Phillips as a potential replacement for Thomas Partey, who is a loan target for Juventus.

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent is an Arsenal fan, and he has said that he would take the £42 million () England international midfielder at the Gunners.

The talkSPORT pundit has also said that Phillips would be a very good signing for Newcastle.

Bent said about Phillips on : “Listen, I would take him at Arsenal. I think you would take him at United. I think he is a good player.”

The pundit added: “I think Kalvin Phillips would be a good signing for Newcastle. They need it, the injuries they have got. I am a big fan of Kalvin Phillips, though, wherever he is going to go and going to play. He is going to help Newcastle massively.”

My View: Arsenal unlikely to be able to sign Kalvin Phillips

I do not think that Arsenal will be able to sign Kalvin Phillips in the January transfer window.

Arsenal are aiming to win the Premier League title this season, and I do not see why Manchester City would let them have one of their players… again.

The Gunners signed Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko from City and almost won the Premier League title last season.
