Darren Anderton urges Tottenham to back Mauricio Podhettino in the transfer window

Darren Anderton has raved about Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino and made a plea for the club to back him in the summer transfer window.

Spurs moved into their new stadium on Wednesday to beat Crystal Palace in their first match and finally have a home again after using Wembley on a temporary basis.

The North London club face a battle to stay in the top four during the remaining Premier League games, while they have a two-legged Champions League tie with Manchester City just around the corner.

Spurs have spent no money during the last two consecutive transfer windows, which makes it even more impressive the progress Pochettino has made.

But ex-Spurs midfielder Anderton has urged his former club to back him financially with some signings if they want to keep moving forward.

“Yes he certainly does [deserve to be backed in the transfer window],”

“Pochettino has done unbelievably well since he’s come to the club. He’s taken Spurs on and all the players who were there before he’s improved individually. But they’ve got to keep improving the team.”

TBR’s View:

Spurs are perhaps only one or two marquee signings away from getting their first piece of silverware under Pochettino and the manager certainly deserves it.

He’s the perfect man at the helm for the stadium transition and is an extremely popular figure at the club.

There is perhaps a lack of depth in the squad if a star player is injured at Spurs and that is why a couple of statement additions in the summer could send out a real message to their rivals.
