Darren Anderton delivers his verdict on Tottenham target Jack Grealish

Darren Anderton doesn’t believe that Tottenham target Jack Grealish would go straight into their starting XI next season, but that he’s got the potential to develop nicely if he moves to London.

Grealish is currently preparing for a Championship play-off final with his side Aston Villa at Wembley, where they face Midlands rivals Derby County.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has impressed this campaign, scoring six goals and suppling eight assists in 34 games across all completions.

, Spurs want to land the Villa playmaker this summer after previously going close to signing him for £25million last summer.

Ex-Spurs midfielder Anderton has suggested that Grealish would arrive as a squad player if he joins this summer.

“Jack Grealish wouldn’t improve Tottenham’s team and they’ve got better players in his position already,”

“We’ve seen from his performances for Aston Villa this season that he’s a very talented player but he isn’t good enough to walk straight into their starting team.

“Grealish certainly has the potential to develop into a top, top player and he would fit the Spurs ethos, but if he joins it would very much be as a squad player.”

TBR’s View:

Grealish is an extremely exciting talent and is at the stage now when he needs to be playing Premier League football, especially if he wants to force his way into the plans of England manager Gareth Southgate.

Villa are a much better side when their midfield creator is on the pitch and have a much higher win success with him this campaign.

It would be no surprise to see him be the match-winner in the play-off final, but it would be an enormous step up at Spurs.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are gearing up for the biggest game in club football with the Champions League final against Liverpool and are stacked with quality players.

Grealish would benefit massively from playing with them, but would have to be patience if he ended up at Spurs.
