Danny Rose praises Spurs star and fellow left-back Ben Davies, says he is ‘top, top professional’

Danny Rose has sung the praises of fellow left-back, Ben Davies, after coming to the end of his contract with Spurs.

Rose is to leave the North London outfit after almost 15 years. The Doncaster-born defender has enjoyed a fine spell overall with the club, despite a poor last 18 months or so.

The former England left-back has been playing solely with the under-23s this term. It comes after a bit of a fallout with Jose Mourinho. That fallout, of course, was well-documented in the Amazon documentary on Spurs.

Rose has competed with a number of left-backs during his time with the club. And in recent years, that competition has been Ben Davies. The Welshman proving to be a useful player for Spurs since

But despite the competition, Rose has praised Davies. In a lengthy farwell, the now ex-Spurs star was more than complimentary about his counterpart.

“Ben’s been a great team-mate and it’s been a pleasure competing for the left-back spot over the last six years. Ben is a top, top professional and I’d like to think we improved each other,” Rose told .

“It was probably the best thing for me that the Club did buy another left-back because it gave me a bit of a wake-up call and after that. I’d like to think that’s where I properly kicked on for Tottenham.”

Danny Rose should be remembered for good things by Spurs fans

Despite the acrimonious ending of sorts, Rose was still a huge success overall for Tottenham.

His goal against Arsenal, his rise to being in the England set-up, and his dedication while in his prime, all mark him out as a top player.

So while things have gone slightly downhill, there should be no need for any animosity from Spurs fans. In fact, it should be quite the opposite given his contribution over the years.

Davies, on the other hand, is clearly a top pro. Jose Mourinho pointed this out previously, so it’s little surprise to see Rose so impressed by his teammate.
