Danny Murphy thinks 28-year-old Manchester City player would be a good signing for Liverpool

Danny Murphy has suggested that he would not mind seeing Kalvin Phillips sign for Liverpool this month, but admitted that he cannot see Manchester City sanctioning such a move.

It may come as a surprise to some that Kalvin Phillips remains at Manchester City at this stage of the♌ window. Of course, the 28-year-old has barely featured for P𓆉ep Guardiola’s side this season.

Newcastle had hoped to do a deal f๊or Phillips before the January wind🐭ow even opened. But there are other admirers.

Danny Murphy would be happy with Kalvin Phillips at Liverpool

Liverpool are one of tꦜhose who have been linked with Phillips in recent weeks. Wataru Endo has impressed more recently. But he is away on international d🦋uty. And it does appear that the Reds do lack depth in that area꧒ of the field.

That prompted one Liverpool fan to suggest that they would like to see the England internatiꦡonal at Anfield.

And speaking on , Danny Murphy suggested that he would be happy with Phillips s🎶igning – but just ꧃cannot see it.

“I don’t think it would be a bad one. It depends on how they do it. I just find🧔 it highly un🌠likely that Man City would be letting him go to strengthen Liverpool’s midfield when they’re competing for the title,” he said.

“If Liverpool were sitting seventh and having a tough time, then maybe. But I can’t see 𒁏it happening.🅰 But yeah, he knows how to play that role. He’s very defensive minded, very disciplined in the way he plays.”

Reds should leave no stone unturned in title race

Manc๊hester City want a £7 million loan fee for Phillips. So much will co💜me💎 down to whether any team is interested in paying that amount.

Liverpool fans may have mixed fe💯elings about the idea. Ultimately, it is expensive for a loan. And he would be arriving having played very little football over the last 18 months.

But Liverpool are in a fanta🍨stic position, sitting top of the Premier League table. They will be devastated if they miss out on the title because they were too cautious in January.

As Murphy suggests, there♌ would be a question mark over whether Manche🌞ster City would sanction such a deal.

But Liverpool would surely be wise to at least ask the 𒁃question if they do w💙ant to add to their squad this month.
