Danny Murphy says ‘incredible’ £15m Spurs player’s comfortably the best in his position this term
Danny Murphy has issued his verdict on Destiny Udogie following his first-half of a season as a Premier League player with Tottenham Hotspur.
It has been a turbulent season for Spurs. Ange Postecoglou’s side set the early pace in the Premier League before injuries started to take their toll on the squad.
Destiny Udogie went into this season still awaiting his Tottenham debut after spending last year back on loan with Udinese.
Danny Murphy lauds Tottenham left-back Destiny Udogie
But he has taken to life in the Premier League remarkably well. Udogie appears to perfectly suit the way Postecoglou wants his team to play, making a major impact at both ends of the pitch.

Occasionally, his inexperience has come to the fore. But Udogie has generally been outstanding for Tottenham.
In fact, while naming his team of the season so far, Danny Murphy told that the Italian was the only contender for the position in his mind.
“Probably the simplest choice, he’s been the best left-back by a mile,” he said. “He’s an incredible player. £16 million I think they paid for him. And it shows you can go out into the market and find good players without spending £100 million.”
Inspired bit of business
Spurs undoubtedly did an amazing bit of business getting Udogie for just . He only turned 21 in November so he has the opportunity to improve further in the coming years.
It is definitely impossible to argue with Murphy including Udogie in his team of the season so far. Left-back has been a problematic position for the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool this season.
Oleksandr Zinchenko has been poor. Meanwhile, both Andrew Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas are currently sidelined with injury.
Udogie looks to have the potential to spend the next decade as a stalwart of the Tottenham side.
Certainly, his signing is looking like an inspired move from the Tottenham hierarchy.
