Danny Mills predicts where Leeds can finish in Premier League next season
that he expects Leeds United to finish in either 15th or 16th place next season, and urged them to follow a club like Newcastle United and achieve safety with league matches still to play.
The Whites gained promotion last week after Huddersfield Town beat West Brom 2-1, before Stoke produced a marvellous display to nab three points against Brentford on Saturday – confirming the Whites as champions.
It meant Sunday’s trip to Derby was a dead rubber, with the Whites having already secured their position as champions. Seven changes were made, but Leeds still cruised to a 3-1 win over Philipp Cocu’s side.
Former Leeds defender Mills chose to be realistic and stated that the club’s primary aim should be finishing 15th or 16th, mirroring the likes of Newcastle. He said claims such as European qualification is some way away.

“I think you have got to be realistic,” . “15th or 16th, to do something like Newcastle have done this season, be safe with five, six, seven games to go. That would be enough at this stage.
“Let’s not get carried away with things. We’re not going to win the Premier League, we’re not going to get into Europe. Anywhere just below halfway would be successful. Consolidate, and then kick on from there.”
TBR’s view – How much can we take from Arsenal FA Cup defeat?
Bielsa’s style of play obliterated an Arsenal team that were close to full strength, but had only just appointed Mikel Arteta. Throughout the first 45 minutes, Leeds did everything but score as Arsenal eventually won 1-0.
Leeds were much changed and included two debutants. If they can play like that, at the Emirates, then they will be able to hold their own in the Premier League. But Mills is right, anything above 18th is a success.
