Danny Mills delivers fascinating insight into Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa
that Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa is in contact with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola every single day, and even puts the Spaniard on hold.
The former Argentina and Athletic Bilbao manager is quickly becoming an icon at Elland Road. He has guided his side to second in the Championship, the closest they have been to promotion in 15 years.
Bielsa has been lauded for his work. It is somewhat remarkable given that he is using the majority of players that Thomas Christiansen and Paul Heckingbottom managed last season – a side which finished in 13th place.
Former Leeds defender Mills gave an incredible insight into Bielsa, explaining how Guardiola constantly calls Bielsa and gave an anecdote about how Bielsa deflected calls from the Manchester City gaffer.

“He’s on about £4million a year. He’s just different,” . “Pep is on the phone to him, pretty much every day. He had a meeting with the board of directors and had to put Pep on hold about five times.
“You’re that good you can put Pep aside. What he’s done is incredible, because it is the same group of players. He didn’t really want to sign any players. The owners have gone, this is good isn’t it.”

Mills’ comments show just how big Bielsa is in terms of stature. An inventor in the world of football, Bielsa is renowned by many as one of the most intuitive managers out there.
But maintaining a relationship with the manager of the current Premier League champions could prove beneficial. Leeds already have one player on loan from City, in Jack Harrison.
The winger has starred of late. Next season, that relationship between Bielsa may see Leeds lure some other City youngsters to the Yorkshire club.
