Even though the Gunners seemingly cooled their interest in the player, they were tipped to make a summer move.

claimed Arsenal had Danilo on their radar as part of a revamp in midfield.

However, it doesn’t look as though this’ll be the case now, with Forest swooping in and making a breakthrough.

Earlier on Thursday night, Fabrizio Romano reported that the Tricky Trees had opted for a permanent transfer.

Then, The Athletic reported that Forest had indeed made a breakthrough.

Danilo would be flying in for a medical this weekend, they added.

What a coup from Forest, who have all-but beaten the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Monaco to one of Brazil’s top talents.

The Gunners reportedly bid for Danilo in the summer, but Palmeiras didn’t want to let a key player go mid-season.

With the Brazilian season now over, the Reds have swooped in and are about to bring him to the City Ground.

Arsenal seemingly hesitated – admittedly, they’ve got more pressing transfer issues this month – and Forest have beaten them to the “complete” player.

Despite his young age, Danilo has already clocked up over 130 senior appearances for Palmeiras.

Danilo will be Forest’s second Brazilian signing of the January transfer window, after Gustavo Scarpa.

The 29-year-old joined the Reds on a free transfer, also from Palmeiras.
