Daniel Sturridge makes Ballon d’Or plea about Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah after 2-0 win vs Manchester City

Mohamed Salah is having one of the greatest individual campaigns in Premier League history and his decisive display in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory against Manchester City was a reminder of that being the case.

Jeremy Doku hailed Liverpool’s defending againsꦬt Manchester City and while they did excel in this regard, the biggest difference between bot🐼h sides ꧃was that the visitors had Salah in their ranks.

There is no bigger match-winner in world football than Mohamed Salah and he showed that by scoring the opening goal and setting up Dominik Szoboszlai’♈s second stri✅ke with yet another top-class assist.

The fact that a case could be made that the Egyptian megastar is potentially not even operating at his absolute best is a testament to the unprecedented levels he has set in a Liverpool shirt.

With Erling Haaland ruled out of the clash due to an ongoing knee injury and Kevin De Bruyne looking like he is finally past the peak of his powers, Manchester City lacked a ♛truly elite attack🌟er in Salah’s mold on Sunday.

But in fairness, not many teams have a player who is even comparable to the 32-year-old, which makes Arne Slot’s machine such a difficult team 𝔍to contend against.

Sturridge said on Sky Sports: “We’re talking Ballon d’Or’s now. If we’re not talking Ballon d’Or’s for Mohamed Salah now, then it’s getting out of hand. We have to sta꧙🦋rt putting him in that conversation now and say it. I don’t even know if he’s had a top five vote or a top three vote yet.”

ꦺJamie Carragher asked: “Why do you think he hasn’t?☂”

Sturridge replied: “I have no idea, to be totally transparent. When you look at maybe the history of the award, 🎶typically it goes to someone in La Li🔯ga.”

What has Mohamed Salah said about winning the Ballon d’Or?

In December, Salah discussed the Ballon d’Or by admitting that his primar🌺y focus is on winning the Premier League title with Liverpool this season.

“The only thing in my mind🥃, to be fair, is I want Liverpool to win the league and I just want to be part of that. That’s the only thing I’ve really focused [on] since the beginning of the season. I will do my best for the team to🏅 win trophies.

“We are in the right direction but of course, there are a few other teams really trying to catch up with us and they are very good teams. We just need to stay focused and humble, work hard and just go a💖gain.”

As things stand, it looks like Sal𓆏ah co♛uld win the league and the Ballon d’Or.

The forme𝄹r Fiorentina w🐻ideman is having a truly phenomenal campaign.

With 25 goals and 16 assists to his name this season, Salah c🀅ertainly merits being named as one of the favourites to win the award now.
