Daniel Levy would like to sign Eberechi Eze but Tottenham’s ‘ears have been pricked’ by deal for ‘incredible’ £60m star

Thomas Frank’s seemingly imminent arrival at Tottenham Hotspur could change the club’s summer transfer plans.

Tottenham Hotspur are facing a summer of major change with Ange Postecoglou having been sacked and Thomas Frank close to replacing him.

Spurs have held talks with Frank about becoming their next manager, and now the North London club are working to finalise the deal for the Danish coach.

The 51-year-old could also have a strong influence on what happens at Tottenham in the transfer market and one of his targets has caught the attention of the Lilywhites.

Tottenham could rival Man United for Bryan Mbeumo if Thomas Frank arrives

Tottenham are showing an interest in the possibility of signing Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo this summer, according to Paul O’Keefe.

The North London club are currently looking at whether a deal for the 25-year-old attacker would be possible. Frank is a big fan of Mbeumo having described him as last season.

Should Frank make the switch across the capital, Spurs will consider trying to bring Mbeumo to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in addition.

O’Keefe told the Last Word On Spurs: “They [the board] would like to do that deal. I think he’s a player that most definitely is still on their radar. It’s just the funds… Obviously, now you’ve got the extra spanner in the works of their ears being pricked by Thomas Frank with regards to Bryan Mbuemo.

“Their ears have pricked up over him and that’s something they are looking at currently. I’m not saying they press the button on, but if they get Thomas Frank over the line, then that is someone they would consider.”

The big issue about a possible move for the Cameroonian international is that Manchester United’s deal for Mbeumo is already well advanced.

The Red Devils are expected to submit a second offer of £60 million, as reported by TBR Football, making it rather tricky for Frank’s new team to match that sort of money.

Tottenham also like Eberechi Eze and he is a player who the club would like to sign if they can make the finances of the deal work.

The 27-year-old has a release clause at Crystal Palace worth £60 million plus an extra £8 million in add-ons. It now remains to be seen which player Spurs will move to sign.

Should Tottenham move for Eberechi Eze or Bryan Mbeumo?

Eze and Mbeumo both enjoyed stellar 2024/25 campaigns as they both managed over 20 goals and assists for the season.

Mbeumo particularly impressed in the Premier League as he made it to 20 goals for the first time in his career to prove why he is in such high demand.

Meanwhile, Eze’s performances in the FA Cup for Palace, as he helped the Eagles to win their first major trophy, were also quite the statement.
