Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has praised Wilfried Gnonto for “working hard” and scoring the winner in the Whites’ last encounter.
Speaking ahead of Leeds‘ FA Cup replay on Tuesday night, the Whites boss said he had a “gut feeling” that the 20-year-old would deliver last Friday.
Gnonto got back to scoring ways in Leeds’ last Championship fixture, netting the winner in their 1-0 victory at Bristol City.
The Italy international ran onto a speculative Junior Firpo ball, raced through the opposition defence and fired home from inside the box on 47 minutes.

Farke picked Gnonto over Jaidon Anthony in the Leeds starting XI on Friday, a decision that could’ve gone either way.
The Leeds boss, speaking to , gave his reasons as to why he made that call.
“It was not the easiest decision as Jaidon had been impressive and it was a tight call,” said Farke.
“We like Jaidon a lot coming off the left wing, on the right wing he can’t do that as much and Willie is a bit more straightforward.
“Willie is working hard and we wanted to show that we back him and trust him, to give him a chance to come into his rhythm.
“It was a tight call and was difficult to disappoint Jaidon as he probably expected to be in the line-up. But it was not against Jaidon, it was a gut feeling Willie would deliver.”
Wilfried Gnonto and Jaidon Anthony could start for Leeds at Plymouth
With Leeds in Tuesday night action at Plymouth, there’s a good chance we may see Gnonto and Anthony both start in the FA Cup fourth-round replay.
As per the , Crysencio Summerville has been dealing with some minor fitness issues this season, and the outlet suggests he should get a rest.
With that in mind, Anthony could come in for Summerville on the left and Gnonto could keep his spot on the right-hand side.
It’s great to see Gnonto edging towards the levels that made him a Leeds fan favourite last season.
Although the summer saw him reportedly try to leave the club, that’s water under the bridge now and he’s said to be closing in on a new Leeds contract.
