Daniel Farke is now looking at signing £18m player who Leeds fans once threw coins at

Leeds United need to make some serious upgrades on their squad as they head back to the Premier League.

The Whites aren’t quite ready for the Premier League yet, and a few players do need upgrading and depth needs adding.

One big area of concern at Leeds is the goalkeeping situation.

Illan Meslier was heavily criticised the last time he was in the Premier League, and he’s continued to make mistakes in the Championship.

Meanwhile, Karl Darlow has been solid since joining Leeds, but he’s not quite Premier League quality.

Luckily, the transfer window is just around the corner, and Leeds could be set to make some moves very soon.

Leeds interested in Aaron Ramsdale

According to , Leeds United are considering a few goalkeeping options.

Caoimhin Kelleher is an option for Leeds, and Gary Kelly believes Kelleher could be a great signing.

On top of that, Leeds also have their eyes on Sam Johnstone.

However, perhaps most intriguingly, Leeds are interested in signing Aaron Ramsdale from Southampton.

The England international has just been relegated with the Saints one year on from his move from Arsenal.

Ramsdale has been linked to Man Utd recently, but now, Leeds are keen on the goalkeeper.

Aaron Ramsdale’s incident with Leeds fans

Ramsdale may well be tempted by a move to Leeds.

After all, the goalkeeper is a Yorkshireman and this offers him an immediate return to the Premier League.

However, if Ramsdale is to join Leeds, he may have to mend his relationship with the fans.

Leeds fans haven’t been so kind to Ramsdale over the years, and speaking on Ben Foster’s Podcast, the goalkeeper shared how he actually had coins thrown at him during a game at one point at Elland Road.

“After the first [goal], there were some bottles and stuff thrown… a few lighters, and I chucked them off to the side. The next thing you know, money started coming on… I’m looking around and there was one £2. Well, I collect £2s, so I took that,” Ramsdale said.

“Then there’s quids and 50ps, so I’m picking them up and I put them by my towel, [then] at half time I put them in my towel, I run off and put them in the changing room. Second half comes, a few more come, and then an e-cig comes on just before the penalty.

“So I’ve gone back in and I’m speaking to Kalvin Phillips, going ‘your fans must be loaded’ – it was about £17 I pulled off the pitch. And I’ve missed some money – I couldn’t pick them all up – it was about £17 I took back in.”

Ramsdale doesn’t have great memories from Elland Road – being pelted by numerous objects, including coins, but he could well become a fan favourite if he joins Leeds and replicates the performances that he used to put in for Arsenal.
