Dane Scarlett and Harvey White thrilled over news out of Tottenham today
Tottenham Hotspur youngsters Dane Scarlett and Harvey White have expressed their delight over Eric Dier returning to the England fold.
On Thursday, the Three Lions announced their squad for the upcoming Nations League matches against Italy and Germany.
Dier, who had been out of the England fold since March 2021, made the cut alongside Spurs teammate Harry Kane.
Tottenham took to social media with a photo of Dier and Kane on England duty, with the caption “back in the England squad”.
Scarlett and White replied in the comments, both sharing heart emojis. The former added a hands-up emoji, and the latter posted an applause emoji.
The Tottenham defender was a regular in the England setup following his first cap back in 2015.
However, Dier had lost his place in the squad in 2021, but now he is back in the fold.
“With Eric Dier, he has been playing well for a period of time,” Southgate explained when discussing his squad selection ().
“We think it is a really close call across our centre-backs and he has deserved to be picked back in the group.
“We know what a good character he is. He fits in with the culture and has great international experience and leadership qualities.”
England face Italy away on Friday, September 23 at 7:45pm.
Southgate’s charges then host Germany on Monday, September 26 at 7:45pm.
