Dan James makes claim about his position in Leeds side
Dan James has suggested that he is yet to speak to anyone about what position he will play at Leeds United, but insisted that he is happy to feature anywhere in the forward line, including as a striker – (via Irish Independent).
James was one of the headline movers on deadline day. The Wales international moved to Elland Road from Manchester United for £25 million.
It looks to be something of a gamble from the Whites. Two of Leeds’s best players are wide-men Jack Harrison and Raphinha.
There appeared to be greater areas of concern for Marcelo Bielsa’s side. And James has a lot to prove with so much being spent on his signature.
But the 23-year-old appears to be optimistic that there will be a place for him in the side – although he did insist that he does not expect a spot to simply be handed to him.
“I haven’t spoke to anyone about (my position) but I’m happy to play anywhere in the team,” .
“I’m not going to go in and expect to walk into the team because it’s a great group of players, who are playing very well.
“But I think everyone in that team in the forward line can play anywhere so, yeah, for me I’ve played most positions – striker, left, right – and I’m happy to play any of them.”

Leeds now boast a lot of depth in the final third. James, Raphinha and Harrison are the front-line wide options.
Patrick Bamford, Rodrigo and Tyler Roberts looks to be the striker pecking order. Meanwhile, the latter two names are contenders for the number 10 role.
But there is also the possibility that Raphinha could move into a more central position.
One key man is going to have to drop out of the side for James to feature.
Based on the early stages of the campaign, it would probably not be a huge surprise to see Raphinha indeed displace Rodrigo at some stage.
That would allow James to come in where he is arguably at his best – out wide and able to use his pace to create even more havoc for defences.
