Curtis Jones and Sadio Mane react on Instagram as Liverpool make Monday announcement

Liverpool have confirmed that back-up goalkeeper Adrian has penned a new contract at Anfield. The Spanish veteran was due to see his contract expire at the end of the month. But, Adrian has now extended his stay by another year – and both Curtis Jones and Sadio Mane have reacted to Liverpool’s latest bit of news.

The 34-year-old stopper joined Liverpool in the summer of 2019 from West Ham. He was expected to play a handful of games but instantly clocked up lots of game time. In his two seasons at the club, he has played 24 times in all competitions, a decent total for a second-choice goalkeeper.

His future was in doubt, though. Caomihin Kelleher, now an Ireland international, has impressed when he has got his chance. It was threatening Adrian’s chances of remaining on Merseyside but Liverpool have now announced he has signed a new deal.

What have Jones and Mane said about Liverpool keeping Adrian?

Adrian will play back-up once again, and he might even face competition for that position if Kelleher remains – and does not go on loan. With Liverpool qualifying for the Champions League, Adrian might be given the chance between the sticks in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

Responding to Adrian’s post on social media, Jones posted a two-word comment to his Liverpool teammate. Fellow Spaniard and ex-Liverpool defender Enrique believes Adrian did enough to get a new deal. Mane joined Jones in commenting on Adrian signing a new Liverpool contract.
