Wharton is clearly one of the most exciting midfield prospects to come from the Championship in quite some time, with the Blackburn starlet ready to go all the way to the top.

Yet for Tottenham, they could soon regret not pushing as hard as they initially have for Wharton, with Palace now the clear frontrunners to sign the teenager.

With the Eagles having an incredible track record in recent years in signing players from the Championship, it might not take long for Wharton to settle at Selhurst Park.

And for Tottenham, they might kick themselves if Wharton hits the ground running in south London, with Palace’s ability to identify Championship prospects one of the best in the Premier League.
