Crystal Palace now keen to hold talks with £40m player but Aston Villa already have deal agreed
Crystal Palace can boast one of the most exciting attacks outside of the traditional Big Six in the Premier League.
Jean-Philippe Mateta, who Manchester United admire, has continued his excellent displays from last season with 16 goals in all competitions so far this term, after hitting 19 in the 2023/24 campaign.
Oliver Glasner – who Tottenham have approached – also has the talented Eberechi Eze in his attack, as well as Ismaila Sarr, who can boast seven goals and five assists in 31 Premier League appearances this season.
Despite this, Crystal Palace are now hoping to speak to Marcus Rashford this summer – according to – but it all depends on Aston Villa.
Crystal Palace want Marcus Rashford
Richard Moriarty of The Sun has now claimed that the south Londoners are keeping a close eye on how the England international is performing on loan from Old Trafford at Villa Park.
It is said that Crystal Palace are keen to hold talks with Rashford at the end of the season, and are huge admirers of the Manchester United academy graduate.

However, Aston Villa – who meet Crystal Palace at Wembley in the last four of the FA Cup later this month – have a £40m option to buy the attacker on a permanent basis this summer, so any deal is dependent on the Villans choosing not to trigger that clause.
Even if Aston Villa opt to ignore the purchase option, The Sun add that PSG remain fans of Rashford – who could soon make English football history – so Crystal Palace do not exactly have a clear run at this deal by any means.
Jean-Philippe Mateta could be used as bargaining chip to sign Marcus Rashford if Aston Villa decide not to sign him
As aforesaid, Mateta is a target for Manchester United as contract talks between Crystal Palace and the Frenchman stall – his current deal expires in June 2027.
Should the Crystal Palace No.14 make it clear he wants to leave, the Eagles could opt to cash in this summer while his value is high, and could also use the interest from Manchester United as leverage in negotiations to sign Rashford from the Red Devils.

In truth, a direct swap deal could feasibly happen with no cash changing hands.
Mateta is valued at a sum of around £40m to £50m by Crystal Palace, while Rashford is valued at £40m based on the purchase option Aston Villa have negotiated, so stranger things have certainly happened in the transfer market.
