Crystal Palace fans want Celtic swap deal, amid reports Hoops want James McCarthy
Celtic are reportedly confident of beating four Premier League sides in the race to sign Crystal Palace midfielder James McCarthy this summer – and Palace fans have responded, but requesting a swap deal with the Hoops.
McCarthy, 29, only joined Palace from Everton for £8million last summer. He impressed in a disappointing Eagles side, finally ridding himself of his injury woes to clock up 35 appearances in all competitions.
Despite being a 40-time Ireland international, McCarthy was born in Glasgow and is renowned for being a Celtic supporter. He has spoken openly over his desire to play for the Scottish champions before the end of his career.

That desire makes Celtic confident they can win the race for McCarthy, . originally claimed that Leeds United, Aston Villa, West Ham United and Newcastle United were all keen.
Palace, meanwhile, are likely to be in the market for a new striker as Jordan Ayew and Christian Benteke struggle to score goals on a consistent basis in a defensive-minded Roy Hodgson side. Odsonne Edouard has been linked.
Upon hearing the news that Celtic want McCarthy, Palace fans have urged their club to suggest a swap deal to Celtic which would involve a substantial cash fee and the ex-Everton midfielder in a player-plus-cash move.

I mean, for me, James McCarthy is worth *AT LEAST* £35m so really, we should be looking at a straight swap deal with Edouard… 😉
