Crystal Palace could try and sign ‘unbelievable’ Chelsea player in late move

Crystal Palace and Chelsea could be involved in a transfer deal on deadline day.

The two London clubs have been active in this summer’s transfer window. The Eagles have brought in Ismaila Sarr, Daichi Kamada and Chadi Riad, while Maxence Lacroix and Eddie Nketiah are expected to arrive at Crystal Palace as well.

Those are some good additions to Oliver Glasner’s side, but there could be one more before the window shuts at 11:00 pm on Friday.

In a stream on , transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has shed some light on one deal Palace could attempt on deadline day.

Crystal Palace could try and sign Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea

Crystal Palace are hoping for a big season under Glasner.

The Eagles looked fantastic when the Austrian took over from Roy Hodgson last season, and despite losing the first two games of the campaign, there is a lot of optimism.

The new signings combined with the expected additions of Lacroix and Nketiah will only make Palace stronger, but they have suffered an injury blow.

Riad hurt his knee in the Carabao Cup game against Norwich City, and that could force Palace back into the market for a new centre-back.

Romano has revealed that Trevoh Chalobah could be an option for Palace. The defender, branded as ‘unbelievable’ by Rio Ferdinand on , has no future at Chelsea and they want to get him out.

He said: “For Trevoh Chalobah, today we heard about Stuttgart – fake news! I am told Stuttgart are not working on a deal for Trevoh Chalobah. But, there are other clubs interested in Trevoh Chalobah, also in England.

“There could be movement. Just to give you an example, there are many clubs looking at defenders on the final day like Crystal Palace.

“Now they signed Lacroix but they have been in touch for Chalobah in recent days.”

What Glasner has said about Riad’s injury

Palace signed Riad from La Liga side Real Betis this summer, and there has been a lot of excitement over his qualities.

However, it was a shame to see the 21-year-old suffer an injury against Norwich City, and although he is optimistic, his manager is a bit worried.

Glasner confirmed after the game that Riad’s injury could have something to do with his knee ligament.

He said after the game, as quoted by : “I don’t have a diagnosis right now. It looks like something happened with the ligament in his knee. We all hope it was not too serious.

“It looks like to me he will at least miss the Chelsea game on Sunday. I will be able to tell you on Friday. He says, it doesn’t look so bad. I can hope.”
