Crystal Palace could replicate Ruben Loftus-Cheek success with ambitious Callum Hudson-Odoi loan

Callum Hudson-Odoi’s situation at Chelsea has dominated the headlines in recent weeks, with the Englishman’s impressive performances still unable to earn him a first Premier League start.

Crystal Palace should mount an ambitious loan deal for Hudson-Odoi, with the view of replicating their successful deal for Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Hudson-Odoi earned his Three Lions debut against Montenegro last week, but cannot even break his way into Maurizio Sarri’s first 11 for Chelsea’s match against Cardiff this weekend.

Back in 2017/18, Loftus-Cheek was in a similar position at Stamford Bridge, showing promise but unable to consistently make first team appearances at Chelsea.

That year, he joined the Eagles on a season-long loan, impressing with his dominating performances in midfield, starring under Roy Hodgson and earning a spot in England’s World Cup team as a result.

After returning from SE25, Loftus-Cheek has enjoyed his best season yet at Chelsea, making 16 league appearances to date and scoring three goals in the process.

Palace could offer Hudson-Odoi consistent, guaranteed playing time at Selhurst Park and a chance to return to Chelsea with a claim to a first-team place.

Although a loan deal with Crystal Palace would be a surprising transfer for Callum Hudson-Odoi, the 18-year-old would do well to observe Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s success at SE25 as an example.
