Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner hails Mikel Arteta and names two Arsenal danger men ahead of Carabao Cup clash
Oliver Glasner has been speaking about Arsenal as he prepares to take his Crystal Palace side to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.
The Austrian could guide the Eagles into the semi-final of the Carabao Cup for the first time since January 2012 with a win over the Gunners, and comes into the London derby with confidence after Sunday’s 3-1 victory at Brighton.
In regards to Arsenal, the north Londoners come into this Carabao Cup quarter-final on the back of two successive draws in the Premier League against Fulham and Everton, so the man Mikel Arteta will be eager to put things right.
Regardless of that uninspiring form, Oliver Glasner is still wary of Arsenal.
Oliver Glasner admits nobody can stop Arsenal from corners
The man from Salzburg sounds concerned about Arsenal’s threat from corners, and he has every right to be.
Arsenal have scored 23 goals from this particular dead ball situation since the start of last season, far more than any other side, with Glasner admitting he doesn’t have much idea how to stop it.

The quote him as saying: “Everybody knows it. Everybody tries different things (to stop them). To be honest, it looks like nobody could avoid that (Arsenal will) have chances. They didn’t score but they had one big chance against Everton. It’s a strength, so the best thing is don’t give them any corners, but this is the style, how they are playing.
“They force corners. They come from the wing, they overload sides, making the runs, early crosses, you block it… corner, and that’s how they play.
“We have to deal with it. It’s not that we are now just talking and thinking about the corners. We know it, but we don’t make the issue bigger than it is.”
Glasner also highlighted the importance of Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka, while adding that he thinks Arteta is a “fantastic” manager.
The official website quote him as saying: “They’re playing really well, they struggled a little bit several weeks ago but now they have injured players coming back, especially Odegaard and Saka, their form got better and better, although maybe the last two results don’t show this. I also watched the Champions League game against Monaco, and Monaco is a very good squad but they had no chance there.
“Monaco are a very attacking team and I think (Arsenal) had six or seven chances over the entire game time. So they are a very, very good team, with a fantastic manager in Mikel Arteta. He has shown in the last years how you can develop a team and a club.”

Crystal Palace should take inspiration from Monaco to frustrate Mikel Arteta
Last week, Arsenal recorded a 3-0 win over Monaco in the UEFA Champions League, although none of their goals came from corners.
Interestingly, the French side opted to leave three players on the halfway line, which saw Arsenal remove three players from the box to mark them and ultimately fail to score from a corner in this match.
It could well be the blueprint of how to stop Arsenal from corners – especially for a Crystal Palace side who have plenty of pace on the break in the likes of Ismaila Sarr and Eberechi Eze.
