Cristian Romero sends four-word tweet after Tottenham man wins World Cup with Argentina
Well, what a day of football for Tottenham defender Cristian Romero and his Argentina teammates, who won on penalties to win the World Cup.
Romero played the whole game an put in a good performance in the main, despite Kylian Mbappe leading a France resurgence in the second half that threatened to spoil the party.

In the end, though, it was Lionel Messi and Argentina who prevailed. Mess, of course, will take the limelight and the plaudits. But in defence, for around 70 minutes anyway, Romero was in brilliant form in keeping France out of the game.
The Tottenham defender showed just why he is loved at Spurs with some big tackles and a typical gutsy display at the heart of the defence. And taking to a short while ago, Romero has spoken out – albeit briefly – with a four word message to sum up his feelings.
Translated simply as ‘we are world champions’, Romero is clearly delighted to have written his own name in the history books.
For Spurs, of course, Romero winning the World Cup can only be a good thing. It will no doubt lead to the defender coming back in great spirits, and it gives Spurs a player who can now call himself a winner at the highest level.

Sure, 3-3 is never going to look like it was the defender’s day. But Romero did actually put in a good performance and it showed really with Didier Deschamps taking off Giroud and Dembele early on.
Romero now being a winner is big for Spurs. Too many times their squad has been accused of lacking real winners. But now they have a winner from the biggest tournament there is.
Messi’s legacy is secured. But Romero played his part here, and showed just why Spurs splashed the cash.
