Craig Burley issues scathing three-word verdict on what Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta wants to do

Arsenal defender David Luiz has come under criticism from ESPN pundit Craig Burley, who issued a scathing three-word assessment of Mikel Arteta’s desire to keep the under-fire player.

On Wednesday night, the Gunners’ return to Premier League action didn’t exactly go to plan as they were beaten 3-0 by Manchester City, with Luiz putting in a particularly poor display.

Luiz, who came on in the 24th minute for the injured Pablo Mari, failed to clear the ball just before half time, which enabled Raheem Sterling to open the scoring.

The Brazilian then conceded a penalty and was sent off for pulling Riyad Mahrez back, with Kevin De Bruyne duly slotting in for City’s second.

Phil Foden then made it three in injury time as the reigning Premier League champions enjoyed a bright return to proceedings at the expense of the Gunners.

Cue Burley giving his post-match thoughts on Arteta confirming – pre-match – that he wants to keep Luiz, hoping he signs a new contract:

The 33-year-old was an £8million signing from Chelsea last August, replacing then Arsenal club captain Laurent Koscielny, who joined Bordeaux the previous day.

It was widely reported that Luiz arrived in North London on a two-year deal, but recently claimed that the deal was only for an initial 12-month stay.
