Jamie Redknapp slams one Manchester City player who ‘couldn’t get near anybody’ against Tottenham

Manchester City don’t lose too many games and they especially don’t lose by four goals but against Tottenham, that’s exactly what happened.

City were put to the cleaners by Tottenham, who simply ripped through their💮 defence at will.

Dejan Kulusevski was a constant menace for City while at the back, Kyle Walker had a stinker as he very much showed s꧅igns 🍷of age across the 90 minutes.

However, it wasn’t just Walker who was a problem for City. In fact, a number of players you’d expect to deliver simply went missing and according to Jamie Redknapp, midfielder Ilkay Gundogan was as guilty as anyone.

Ilkay Gundogan criticised for his Man City performance against Tottenham

Speaking about City’s performance for , former Tottenham man Redknapp lamented the midfield and in particular, Ilkay Gun꧅dogan’s inability to cover ground.

“Gundogan couldn’t get round the pitch, he couldn’t get near anybody. The balance wasn’t right with Foden, Silva🧸 and Lewi꧑s,” Redknapp said.

“The fact you can’t score a goal against the two centre-backs of Davies and Dragusin, that’s the biggest worry. They didn’t have a clinical edge.🎉”

Gundogan cannot be Rodri for City

It’s hard to imagine that City would look this bad without Rodri but here we ar🔴e, with five defeats on the spin and the Spaniard not back until 2025.

For Pep Guardiola, it’s a real dilemma and one he has to get to grips with quickly or risk s꧙eeing Liverpool run away with the title.

Gundogan, for all his qualities, is not a Rodri and like Redknapp mention🍃s here, he doesn’t have the legs anymore to get box to box with the same pace he used to.

City, then, are in dire need to help and come January, don’t be surprised to see them move 🍷into the market to spend and strengthen.
