Could Vincent Janssen become Tottenham Hotspur’s very own Divock Origi?
It looks as though Vincent Janssen has no future at Tottenham Hotspur. , Spurs are struggling to find buyers for a player they
Some clubs have been linked with the Dutchman but it does not appear anything concrete is currently ongoing.
It could very well turn out that Janssen again finds himself stuck in Tottenham limbo at the start of the season.
But if that is the case, both he and Mauricio Pochettino should look to an unlikely Liverpool hero for inspiration.
Divock Origi found himself in a similar position last summer. An uninspiring loan spell at Wolfsburg saw him back at Liverpool with little fanfare. Recurring injury trouble, as with Janssen, was also an issue.
Despite some transfer links, Liverpool did not sell the Belgian and will be glad they didn’t. Origi was a super-sub last season. The 24-year-old scored crucial goals against Everton, Barcelona and, of course, Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final.
There is no reason why Janssen cannot work hard this summer and fulfill a similar role for Spurs. It is easy to forget that the 25-year-old was once the Netherlands leading striker and scored 32 goals in one season.
If Tottenham do not find a buyer for Janssen, they should not cast him aside. Pochettino could do a Klopp, pull him in from the cold, and find a niche role for him in North London. If he has the same impact as Origi, it would make him an instant Tottenham cult hero.
