Could Townsend save Newcastle’s season if he returned in January?
Newcastle United need to reverse their poor form sooner rather than later to avoid another relegation.
After 10 games, they have netted just six goals and are yet to win a game.
With just three points on the board, they are second bottom in the Premier League.
A return to the Championship is a very distinct possibility unless they can turn their form around quickly.
And the January transfer window must be used wisely to strengthen their squad and add some attacking talent.
Newcastle have been linked with a return move for Andros Townsend in the past and now could be the perfect time to bring him back.

Townsend spent half a season with the Magpies previously, scoring four times in 13 games. He is fondly remembered as a fans’ favourite but he left after Newcastle were relegated.
This summer, with the 13-cap England winger.
Townsend could be the man to salvage Newcastle’s season. He already has a strong bond with the Toon faithful and played some of his best football at St James’ Park.
With his pace and direct approach, Newcastle would immediately look more menacing in attack.
Although the 27-year-old may cost a bit, surely it is time for Mike Ashley to fund Rafa Benitez in January or risk another relegation to the Championship.
