A more experienced option, Schalke’s Howedes can play anywhere across the defence, but is at his most comfortable at centre-back.
A great reader of the game, a wiser head may be beneficial alongside Kurt Zouma next season and Howedes has done it all. Despite not playing for Bayern or Dortmund, the German has been right to be pinnacle of the game and won the World Cup with Germany in 2014.
As Schalke continue to see their best players leave, Howedes may see this as his final chance to really make a name for himself at a bigger club.
