‘Could that cost them the title?’… Chris Sutton is really worried about £28m Arsenal player now
Arsenal are in the driving seat in the Premier League title race as things stand.
The Gunners are top of the table after 15 games, but, as Arsenal fans know only too well how quickly things can go haywire.
Indeed, Arsenal were in a very similar position last season before throwing it all away, and speaking on the , Chris Sutton has suggested there’s one player who could cost the Gunners the title.
Sutton says that he has big concerns about David Raya after his poor performance against Luton at the weekend, claiming that he can’t keep playing in this way if Arsenal are to win the league.
Raya could cost Arsenal the title
Sutton shared his verdict on the Spaniard.
“The one thing from Mikel Arteta’s perspective, this Raya/Ramsdale debate, will his stubbornness to carry on with David Raya, could that cost them the title at the end of the season? I just don’t get it, we know what happened at the start when he hinted it would be an even spread of games, but there were a couple of huge errors, and he can’t keep making those errors if Arsenal are to win the league,” Sutton said.
Needs to improve
Sutton is absolutely right, Raya needs to improve if he’s to help Arsenal win the league.
You can’t concede three goals against a team like Luton on a regular basis if you’re to win the title.
Luckily, Arsenal got out of jail against the Hatters this week, but if you’re relying on last-minute winners too often, you’re going to get caught out sooner rather than later.
Every Premier League winner in history has had a reliable goalkeeper in their side, and, sadly, Raya doesn’t look of that quality right now.
The £28m man needs to improve.
