Could Rangers star Scott Arfield be replacing ex-Celtic star Stuart Armstrong?
Southampton have been linked with a move for in-form Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield after an excellent first campaign under Steven Gerrard – so could he replace ex-Celtic star Scott Armstrong?
Southampton are interested in the 30-year-old playmaker. He has been in superb form for Rangers this season, after Gerrard lured him to Ibrox from Burnley last summer.
He has scored 11 goals in just 42 league and cup fixtures from midfield, as well as creating seven more assists. It has seen Southampton said to be interested in the Canada skipper ahead of the summer window.
It is believed Rangers value Arfield at just £3million despite his impact on the Gers side. However, any incoming fee for Arfield would prove to be profit seeing as Rangers landed the ex-Huddersfield Town star on a free.

Southampton are known to use Scottish football for recruitment. The likes of Victor Wanyama, Fraser Forster and Virgil van Dijk have all joined the Saints from Celtic.
Most recently, Scott Armstrong moved to Southampton for just £7million () last summer. Armstrong has only started 14 Premier League matches this season, and has struggled to make an impression.
Southampton need a number 10, with Nathan Redmond currently playing in that role as Armstrong struggles. Arfield can be that man – meaning the Rangers star could replace the £7m Celtic sale.
Rangers are in a strong position when it comes to Arfield, though, given he has three years remaining on the four-year deal he signed in the summer of 2018.
