Could Nuno tempt Serge Aurier into Spurs future u-turn?

Nuno Espirito Santo looks to have plenty of work to do after being confirmed as the new Spurs boss on Wednesday – with one of those tasks potentially helping make a decision on whether to let Serge Aurier leave.

Everything seems to suggest that Aurier is set to leave Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in this window.

He even suggested that it is time to move on earlier this summer. And that may be a stance many Spurs fans are fine with.

Aurier, on his day, is an outstanding performer. However, he has come in for a lot of criticism during his time in North London.

That inconsistency arguably makes this summer the right time to let him go. . .

However, if there is any manager who may be tempted to see whether Aurier could be persuaded to stay a little longer, perhaps it may be Nuno.

That is because Aurier is reportedly a player Nuno considered signing for Wolves last summer.

Nuno may perhaps be the man to try and convince Serge Aurier to not leave Spurs

According to reports, Aurier was discussed as the two clubs negotiated the £15 million move that saw Matt Doherty leave Molineux.

It was suggested that Aurier’s desire to move elsewhere put paid to any hopes of a swap deal.

Of course, Nuno may not have the biggest say in what Spurs do in the transfer market anyway. The club have brought Fabio Paratici in to oversee most of those plans.

But if Nuno is an admirer of Aurier, and Paratici does not receive many substantial bids, perhaps there may be scope for the 28-year-old to be convinced to stay put and work with a manager who has previously looked at him.
