Could Newcastle have Martin Dubravka back for FA Cup?

With professional football in England suspended until the beginning of April at the earliest, could Newcastle receive a boost over their injured goalkeeper Martin Dubravka?

The FA, Premier League, EFL and WSL have all postponed action until at least 3 April due to the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) and medical advice will be taken again then.

Football clubs have to be patient while health and safety understandably takes focus, but they will all be eager to see when they could return.

Newcastle sit 13th in the Premier League table with an eight-point cushion over the relegation places, but they should be desperate for the season to resume as they still have something to play for.

Steve Bruce’s side may be underdogs, but they have an FA Cup quarter-final with Manchester City booked in and the club hopes to win its first piece of major silverware since 1955.

The fixture was due to take place on 21 March and has obviously been postponed as a result of the break, but if football returns then surely they can rearrange a date.

Newcastle could potentially receive an injury boost if the fixture is rearranged for April and they would need to be at their best to upset Manchester City at St James’ Park.

Dubravka was ruled out for the rest of March with a knee problem (), but this break will give him time to recover from his injury.

The 31-year-old is one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the Premier League and has turned out to be a genius £4million () signing from Sparta Prague, so if he could be in goal for the FA Cup it would be a serious lift.
