Could Leif Davis be set for first-team promotion if Bielsa changes formation?

Leeds United signed Leif Davis in the summer with the idea that he would spend at least one year in the under-23 side first.

But given his recent performances for the youth sides and the first-team injury crisis, he cannot be far away from a promotion.

Davis joined in the summer from Morecambe, without ever playing a senior game for the League Two side.

But he could be thrown in at the deep end at Leeds with many first-team defenders out injured.

Leeds do not have much depth in their defensive ranks so they will be relying on some youngsters to step up.

And Davis has impressed recently, switching from left-back to centre-half in the under-23 team.

Could this tactical change in the under-23 side mean that Marcelo Bielsa is watching the youngsters?

The Argentinian might consider changing his formation and playing three central defenders.

If he does this, he is likely to select Pontus Jansson, Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips as his starting back three.

But if Phillips moves back into midfield, there is a vacancy for a youngster to fill.

And that youngster could be Davis. Alternatively, he might select Conor Shaughnessy, Aapo Halme or Hugo Diaz.
