Could Leeds regret missing out on Liverpool’s Harry Wilson, with reports of Burnley move imminent – TBR View
Leeds United have enjoyed a good summer in the market so far, with Marcelo Bielsa adding a number of high-quality additions to his squad at Elland Road.
The Whites have bolstered their ranks impressively, with the likes of Rodrigo Moreno and Robin Koch arriving for big money, while Jack Harrison returned for a third spell on loan. In addition, the club also confirmed the signing of Spanish defender, Diego Llorente, earlier today.
Those signings, coupled with an explosive start to life in the Premier League, have left most Leeds fans very optimistic about the next nine months of PL action.
But despite the good signings and excellent start, reports of Burnley being close to landing Harry Wilson could leave a sour taste for the Whites.
claims the Clarets are close to a £15m deal to bring Wilson to the club from Liverpool. If that signing does happen, it would be a bitter blow to Leeds, who reportedly courted Wilson back in August, according to the .
Defensive recruitments great but Wilson an added dimension
Leeds fans will have seen first-hand the quality Wilson has in his locker. Just a few seasons back, the winger was part of the Derby County team who beat the Whites in the playoffs, playing a key role as the Rams overcame Bielsa’s men at Elland Road.
And in a system that is so free-flowing and requires width and aggression in attacking areas, it’s hard to not imagine Wilson being a perfect fit for Leeds.
His time at Bournemouth last season was another stepping stone. He scored seven times and once again demonstrated his ability from dead-ball situations, something else which could help Leeds.
In terms of the current market, and given Leeds shelled out over £25m on Rodrigo, Harry Wilson could prove to be a snip at just £15m.
So, while Harrison, Costa, and Hernandez are great options in wide areas, you can’t help but think this could be a case of a missed opportunity.
