Could Jack Clarke come back to haunt Leeds amid exit reports?

this week that Tottenham Hotspur are set to recall Jack Clarke from his loan spell at Leeds United in January.

that Spurs inserted a recall clause in the loan deal that followed Clarke’s £10 million move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer. And with the winger yet to play for the Whites in the Championship this season, a premature return is reportedly being considered.

As things stand, Leeds fans may not be too disappointed if Clarke does return to Tottenham in January. Marcelo Bielsa’s side top the table and they have a number of options out wide.

And when the teenager has played for the under-23s, he has struggled to make a significant impact and has been outshone by some of his younger teammates.

Provided Leeds’s squad is not stretched like it was last season, they appear to have the tools to cope without Clarke if he does leave in January.

But while Leeds may not need Clarke at the moment, perhaps there is a scenario that United need to be wary of if he does return to Tottenham in January.

Could Clarke join another Championship side?

With Clarke yet to force his way into Leeds’s plans, it is difficult to imagine that Mauricio Pochettino will feel that he is ready to make a significant impact for his side.

Spurs may be wary of loaning him out again. But should they decide to send him back out immediately, it would be no surprise to see a long queue of Championship clubs register an interest.

And joining another second tier side for the rest of the season could be Clarke’s best option.

There, he could potentially be looking to put a dent in Leeds’s promotion charge. Of course, one signing will not change the complexion of the promotion race on its own. But Clarke has shown at Leeds that he is a potential game-changer, so he could make a real difference for a number of teams.

Leeds may not be too concerned about Spurs recalling Clarke. But perhaps there is still a chance that he could hurt them if he is on the move again during the second-half of the season.
