Why Arsenal should consider a move for Emre Can

Former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has found minutes for Juventus hard to come by this season. He is looking increasingly likely to leave the Italian giants in search of first-team football.

The German made over 100 appearances for Liverpool before moving to Juve in 2018. The arrival of Maurizio Sarri appears to have alienated Can. He was even left out of the club’s Champions League squad for this season.

reports that Can was furious with the decision, saying: “It was very shocking for me because last week I was told and promised something else. Yesterday I got a call from the coach, in which he told me in less than a minute and without explanation that I was not in the squad.”

Since then, the 25-year-old has made just two league starts for the club and featured five times off the bench. He has played less than 300 minutes all season and may seek new opportunities in January.

With the European Championships approaching next summer, Can will want to be playing regular football. The versatile midfielder has made 25 appearances for his country but was left out of the 2018 World Cup squad.

Arsenal should consider a move for the former Liverpool man. Lucas Torreira is looking increasingly likely to leave the club, which leaves them light in midfield. If Can is able to produce the same level of football he did previously in the Premier League, he could prove to be a shrewd buy for the Gunners.
