Contracted until 2024 Leeds XI: Rodrigo, Raphinha and Llorente feature
It was not that long ago Leeds United fans would go into most transfer windows panicking over the future of a talisman – with the situation being made all the worse by said player having a contract that had just a matter of months left to run with no extension in sight.
Now however, Leeds are a very different club on and off the pitch. And they have just completed a summer window that can surely only be reflected upon as a major success.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have taken seven points from their opening four Premier League games. And they appear to have made the signings that the squad needed following promotion.
What is particularly exciting for Whites fans is they now have a large core of players tied down to long-term contracts.
So with that in mind, here is a look at an XI made up (almost) entirely of players contracted until 2024 (via ).
Goalkeeper (With a confession)
Leeds do not actually have a goalkeeper tied down until 2024. So we have had to bend the rules on this one occasion, with Illan Meslier (2023) getting the nod. Based on the start he has made to life in goal however, it would be remarkable if a new contract was not in the pipeline at some stage.
Defence
Leeds’s three first-choice centre-backs are all committed for the next four years. So this particular lineup includes Robin Koch, Diego Llorente, and captain Liam Cooper – who will be nearly 33 by the time his current terms expire.

Midfield
Tying Kalvin Phillips down to a new deal was, behind Bielsa’s extension, surely the best business Leeds did last summer. Meanwhile, youngsters Jamie Shackleton and Ian Poveda have shown signs that they could be stalwarts for years to come.
Helder Costa made his loan permanent this summer. And it would probably be naive to bet against Mateusz Klich still having only missed one league game under Bielsa by the time the 2023/24 season ends.
Forwards
Admittedly, Raphinha – who completed a £17 million on deadline day () – looks set to improve Leeds’s options out wide. But for this lineup, he sits in the number 10 role behind Rodrigo. Both summer signings penned four-year deals upon their arrivals.
It must be noted that Joe Gelhardt also qualifies for this side. And to be honest, it looks to be a matter of time before he gets his first opportunity in the first-team.
