Conte says what he has seen from Kane at Tottenham is not normal
Antonio Conte has told that the way Harry Kane has set the example since his arrival at Tottenham Hotspur is not normal, while he shared what he told the striker at full-time after their win over Newcastle.
Spurs were outrageously good at times on Sunday as they thrashed the Magpies. They needed to win by two clear goals to move above Arsenal in the Premier League table. Ultimately, they won by four.
Kane was at the heart of so much that Tottenham did well against Eddie Howe’s men. He set up Matt Doherty for Spurs’ second goal. And he showed exactly why some put him alongside Kevin De Bruyne as the best passer in the Premier League.
Surprisingly however, he failed to find the back of the net. And it would appear that that fact was one of the only disappointments for Conte following the full-time whistle.
The Italian was asked about how good Kane was for Tottenham. And he went on to open up on the impact the striker has had since his arrival earlier this season.
“I think Kane’s performance was amazing. I said to him at the end of the game that it was a shame that he didn’t score. He played in a fantastic way. To have this type of player in your team makes you strong,” .
“First of all, I like the person. We are talking about a talented player, many times players with great talent don’t want to work hard. I have found a player that’s a great man. He was an example from the first day that I arrived here. Honestly, you can think that this is normal. But this is not normal.”
Tottenham have to break the bank to keep Conte and Kane this summer
Tottenham are now sitting fourth. And while Arsenal have two games in hand, Spurs have a fantastic opportunity to go on and secure Champions League football next year.
The appointment of Conte will be reflected upon as a massive moment in the season if they manage it. And the form of Kane has been just as important.
He did start the campaign slowly. But he has been absolutely outstanding for a number of months now.
One way or another, Spurs simply have to break the bank to keep the two men this summer. They need to do all they can to get the pair to commit to staying. And if that means that they spend big in the market, it is surely a must.
This could be a special time for Tottenham, as long as Conte and Kane stay.
