Conte says Djed Spence is now ‘working with another coach’ at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has suggested that summer signing Djed Spence is not training with the first-team at the moment.
Spurs agreed a deal worth up to £20 million to sign the 22-year-old right-back (), who was absolutely incredible for Nottingham Forest in the Championship last season.
Spence was viewed as the perfect signing for Conte’s wing-back system, but it has been revealed that Daniel Levy and the club actually bought the player – not the Italian ().
Conte was asked about Spence yesterday and the Tottenham boss suggested that he’s still not ready to play in the Premier League. He then revealed that the defender is training with a different coach at Hotspur Way.
Conte suggests Djed Spence is not training with the first team
In his press conference yesterday, the Spurs manager said, as per : “I was very clear at the start when I said this signing is a really good prospect, he’s a young player. This signing – the club wanted to invest in this player.
“The difference is clear. To play in the Championship with Nottingham Forest and then with Tottenham, he needs time to adapt himself in many aspects, in the physical aspect and the tactical aspect because now he is working with another coach.
“I’m seeing a lot of desire, a lot of will, from this player to try to reduce this gap and to be ready.
“With a young player, it’s important to have patience, to work and then to improve. I’m sure Djed, for the future, will be an important player for Tottenham.”

TBR View:
Spence is definitely a huge talent.
The youngster had a really impressive campaign on loan at Nottingham Forest last season. He even caught the eye when playing against Premier League clubs, especially Arsenal, with Gabriel Martinelli branding Spence as one of the toughest opponents he has ever faced.
Some fans expected Spence to be given an opportunity at Tottenham straight away, but Conte is adamant that the defender needs time. His comments now suggest that Spence is unlikely to make his Spurs debut any time soon, which is disappointing for the youngster.
However, there’s no doubt that Spence is a hugely talented player, and he will get an opportunity at some point this season.
