‘Conte likes a lot’: Sky journalist claims Spurs want ‘scintillating’ £20m winger before deadline
Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol has provided an update on Leeds United winger and Tottenham Hotspur target Daniel James.
Last week, reports emerged claiming Spurs are interested in bringing the Whites ace to N17 in a late summer move.
And on Wednesday morning, Fabrizio Romano said Tottenham were back in negotiations with Leeds over James.
On Wednesday evening’s edition of , Solhekol said Tottenham have been eyeing James for a long time.
Antonio Conte likes the Leeds ace “a lot” – but the Elland Road outfit doesn’t want to sell the player.
That said, the situation at Leeds could change depending on who they can bring in – then it’s up to James.
“The situation is that Tottenham have had a long-standing interest in Dan James,” said Solhekol of the “” speedster.
“He’s a player Antonio Conte likes a lot. This interest has been throughout the summer.
“But as far as Leeds are concerned, they don’t want to sell the player.
“The situation may change depending on who they bring in.
“We know, for instance, they’re interested in Cody Gakpo. We know they’re interested in Hwang Hee-chan at Wolves as well.
“If either of those players were to come in, given the transfer fee and the wages, the situation regarding James might change. But then it’s up to the player what he wants to do.
“Would he want to move to Spurs? Would he think he’d play less at Spurs?
“With Rodrigo dislocating his shoulder, could that mean James will play more? It’s a complicated situation.”
Last week, journalist Alan Nixon claimed on his (22/08/22, 5pm) that a Tottenham bid of £20m could be enough to tempt Leeds to part ways with James.
