Conte is unsure about whether to let Rodon leave Spurs – journalist

Sami Mokbel has told that Antonio Conte is unsure about whether to let Joe Rodon leave Tottenham Hotspur, with the boss believing that the Wales international has real potential.

Rodon has endured a difficult time since arriving at Spurs. In truth, he has rarely let the side down since moving to North London. However, opportunities have been difficult to come by for the 24-year-old.

Rodon has only made 24 appearances in all competitions since moving from Swansea. So it is no surprise that he is being linked with a move away.

Reports have claimed that Everton want the centre-back. Meanwhile, Steve Cooper would like to be reunited with Rodon at Nottingham Forest. And it seems that Tottenham have the depth to let him go.

However, Conte has not yet made a decision on whether to let him leave. Mokbel has suggested that he would ideally like to keep him. But the Italian is aware that it may not be the best decision to hold onto him.

“I think there is domestic interest in Rodon for sure. I think Forest have looked at him. From what I hear, I think Conte’s a bit unsure about whether it’s the right thing to let Rodon go,” he told .

“I think he looks at Rodon and he can see a player there. But it’s just is he good enough? Has he got the time to shape him during a season where they’re going to be contesting for a top-four position, playing in the Champions League and trying to finally win a trophy.”

It is no surprise that Conte is in two minds about Rodon. He is clearly a ‘‘ player with a high ceiling. He displays his potential whenever he features for Wales.

But Mokbel is right when he suggests that he is probably not quite at the level to be a regular starter. And with that, keeping him may almost seem unfair at this stage of his career.

Rodon will not want his development to stagnate. So surely, a loan would make the most sense for all parties right now.
