Conte calls up ‘skilful and tricky’ 18-year-old to Spurs training pre-Brighton, can make things ‘look effortless’

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has been putting his players through their paces ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Brighton.

Spurs will be hoping to make it five Premier League wins in a row in the day’s early kickoff.

Just a few weeks ago, Tottenham were wowing and frustrating in equal measure, following up wins with defeats.

However, Spurs have since shaken off this inconsistency to win six of their last seven in the top flight.

Four of those victories were by four or more goals, and all six were by at least two goals.

They’ll be up against a Brighton side eager to make it two wins in a row in north London.

The Seagulls picked up a 2-1 win against Arsenal at the Emirates last week, so they’ll be fancying their chances.

That said, Tottenham have hit form at just the right time and have been nothing short of rampant.

“Capable of making things happen”

On Thursday, Spurs shared video footage of their latest training session at Hotspur Way.

The full video is on , but Tottenham shared a small clip on Twitter.

In the clip, Emerson Royal and Eric Dier appear to be messing around in training.

At four seconds and 11 seconds in, you can see Tottenham academy talent Yago Santiago in the session too.

Santiago joined Tottenham two-and-a-half years ago from Celta Vigo.

The 18-year-old has shown plenty of signs of promise at development squad level.

Santiago has even been described , due to his level of ability.

The Spaniard has made 21 Premier League 2 appearances and three EFL Trophy outings this season.

In July 2021, wrote a detailed feature article on Santiago.

“A midfield player with great balance, in the central areas of the pitch Yago is so slick on the ball and he is a midfield technician who is more than capable of making things happen and creating chances.

“A good passer of the ball and a player who is quick on his feet, Santiago is an intelligent player who can at times make things look effortless.

“As a CAM Santiago makes good forward runs off the ball and he also links the play well from that role.

“He likes to pass the ball forward (he holds onto the ball well) and he is a forward thinking midfield player who is a skilful and tricky player, but he is also a hard worker who helps out the team well.”
