Conor Gallagher’s move to Atletico Madrid could take last minute twist which may interest Tottenham

Conor Gallagher’s reported transfer to Atletico Madrid could take a sudden twist that could be of note for rumoured suitors Tottenham.

Gallagher has recently agreed to a five-year contract with Atletico as the Chelsea midfielder inches closer towards joining the Spanish giants, with the England international seemingly set to move to Madrid this summer.

With Tottenham linked with Gallagher throughout the transfer window, missing out on the England international will come as a major blow for Spurs, who on paper seemed like the dream suitors for the Chelsea dynamo.

Yet a late twist in Gallagher’s move to Atletico could open up a door for Tottenham to strike.

Gallagher’s Atletico move could collapse due to Javi Guerra transfer

According to , Atletico are in advanced talks to sign Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra, with the impact of this transfer potentially leading to Gallagher’s move to Spain being called off depending on certain factors.

With Los Rojiblancos spending big this summer, there’s every chance that Diego Simeone’s side could end up signing both Guerra and Gallagher if the money is there for the deals to go through at the same time.

However, the mere suggestion that Gallagher’s move to Atletico could fall through should be enough to convince Tottenham to make a renewed attempt to sign the Chelsea midfielder, who could be a dream signing for Spurs.

Indeed, Tottenham need to be as proactive as they can be with Atletico potentially tripping over their own feet in signing Gallagher, and the England international could be sold on the idea of moving to north London with his time at Chelsea seemingly over.

Tottenham must make a definitive move for Gallagher

Gallagher’s days at Chelsea look numbered having agreed a contract with Atletico as the Spanish giants look to tie up a deal for the midfielder, yet with some potential problems on the horizon, Tottenham need to make their move.

The north London side have been synonymous with Gallagher in the transfer market in the last 12 months, with Tottenham linked with the England international for what feels like the beginning of time itself.

And with a potential window of opportunity approaching, Tottenham must move to sign Gallagher, who could be exceptional under Ange Postecoglou ahead of the new Premier League season.
