Conflicting reports over contract situation of reported Everton target Omar Richards
There have been conflicting reports over the past 24 hours regarding the future of apparent Everton transfer target Omar Richards.
The talented left-back has been in fine form for Championship side Reading this season and he has even attracted the interest of European champions Bayern Munich,
Everton are also said to be keen. that Everton see Richards as a potential alternative to Lucas Digne at Goodison Park.
The reason why teams are clamouring for Richards is not just his talent but also his contract situation.
Richards is out of contract at the end of the season and teams are getting wind of the fact he has not yet signed a new deal in Berkshire.
However, that no longer seemed to be the case yesterday. it was understood that Reading and Richards were edging closer to agreeing on a new deal at the Madejski Stadium. In fact, they stated it could be sorted within ‘the coming days’.
However, a little over 24 hours later and the same publication contradicted that report. They suggested sources close to the player had made it clear that Richards is still some distance away from signing a new deal at the club. Talks have apparently not yet led to a concrete offer on Richards’ table.
Everton will no doubt continue to monitor this situation as time passes. But it seems that there is still some way to go before Richards commits his future to Reading giving the Toffees hope that he might still end up at Goodison Park.
